अथाब्रवीत्सूतपुत्रः शल्यमाभाष्य सस्मितम् ।
यदि पार्थो रणे हन्यादद्य मामिह कर्हिचित् ।
किमुत्तरं तदा ते स्यात्सखे सत्यं ब्रवीहि मे ॥७३॥

73. athābravītsūtaputraḥ śalyamābhāṣya sasmitam ,
yadi pārtho raṇe hanyādadya māmiha karhicit ,
kimuttaraṁ tadā te syātsakhe satyaṁ bravīhi me.

Then, Karṇa, the son of Sūta, addressed Śalya with a smile and said, "If Pārtha were to kill me here in battle today, what would be your reply then, O friend? Tell me the truth."
