महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-63, verse-25

तावकानां रणे कर्णो ग्लह आसीद्विशां पते ।
तथैव पाण्डवेयानां ग्लहः पार्थोऽभवद्युधि ॥२५॥
25. tāvakānāṁ raṇe karṇo glaha āsīdviśāṁ pate ,
tathaiva pāṇḍaveyānāṁ glahaḥ pārtho'bhavadyudhi.

tathaiva pāṇḍaveyānām glahaḥ pārthaḥ abhavat yudhi

25. O lord of men, Karna was the main stake in battle for your (Kaurava) side. Similarly, Arjuna became the stake for the Pandavas in the fight.
