महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-87, verse-39

सिन्धुराजं तथा कर्णमवमन्यत पाण्डवान् ।
कृतार्थमथ चात्मानं मन्यते कालचोदितः ॥३९॥
39. sindhurājaṁ tathā karṇamavamanyata pāṇḍavān ,
kṛtārthamatha cātmānaṁ manyate kālacoditaḥ.

39. He (Duryodhana) disrespected the Pāṇḍavas, considering Sindhurāja and Karṇa to be superior. Then, driven by fate (kāla), he considered himself to have achieved his purpose.
