विष्णोः प्रबोधनार्थाय निहन्तुं मधुकैटभौ ॥६८॥

The sage said: Thus, the Tamasi (tāmasī) aspect of the Goddess (devi) was then praised by Brahmā (vedhasā) there for the purpose of awakening Vishnu and slaying Madhu and Kaiṭabha.
