श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
ज्ञानस्य ज्ञेयतापत्तिर्बन्ध इत्यभिधीयते ।
तस्यैव ज्ञेयताशान्तिर्मोक्ष इत्यभिधीयते ॥ १ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: "The state where consciousness becomes an object of knowledge is called bondage. The cessation of that very objectification of knowledge is called liberation (mokṣa)."
