महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-55, verse-9

विदार्य नागांश्च रथांश्च वाजिनः शरोत्तमैर्वासववज्रसंनिभैः ।
द्रुतं ययौ कर्णजिघांसया तथा यथा मरुत्वान्बलभेदने पुरा ॥९॥
9. vidārya nāgāṁśca rathāṁśca vājinaḥ; śarottamairvāsavavajrasaṁnibhaiḥ ,
drutaṁ yayau karṇajighāṁsayā tathā; yathā marutvānbalabhedane purā.

9. Having ripped apart the elephants, chariots, and horses with superb arrows comparable to Indra's (Vāsava) thunderbolt (vajra), he swiftly advanced with the intent of slaying Karṇa, just as Indra (Marutvān) did in the past (pura) when he destroyed the Asura Bala.
