महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-12, verse-70

प्रतीपकाये तु रणादश्वत्थाम्नि हृते हयैः ।
मन्त्रौषधिक्रियादानैर्व्याधौ देहादिवाहृते ॥७०॥
70. pratīpakāye tu raṇādaśvatthāmni hṛte hayaiḥ ,
mantrauṣadhikriyādānairvyādhau dehādivāhṛte.

mantra-auṣadhi-kriyā-dānaiḥ vyādhau dehāt iva āhṛte
70. tu aśvatthāmni hayaiḥ raṇāt hṛte,
pratīpakāye vyādhau mantra-auṣadhi-kriyā-dānaiḥ dehāt iva āhṛte.
70. But when Aśvatthāman was carried away from the battle by horses, it was as if a disease were removed from the body of an opponent by means of spells, medicines, rituals, and charitable gifts.
