But the intelligent and discerning (Aśvatthāman), the foremost among the Aṅgirasas, having turned back and deliberated, did not wish to fight again with Pārtha (Arjuna), knowing that victory (jaya) was certain for the Vṛṣṇi hero (Krishna) and for Dhanaṃjaya (Arjuna).
