बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-81, verse-43

विधवा बहुरेखेण रेखाहीनेन निर्धने ।
भिक्षुका च शिरोढ्येन नारी करतलेन हि ॥४३॥
43. vidhavā bahurekheṇa rekhāhīnena nirdhane .
bhikṣukā ca śiroḍhyena nārī karatalena hi.

43. A woman is known to be a widow by a palm with many lines. She lives in poverty due to a palm without lines. And a woman is a beggar if her palm has a prominent center; indeed, this is indicated by the hand (karatala).
