मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-69, verse-64

पत्न्यानुकूलया भाव्यं यथाशीलेऽपि भर्तरि ।
दुः शीलापि तथा भार्या पोषणीया नरेश्वर ॥६४॥
64. patnyānukūlayā bhāvyaṃ yathāśīle'pi bhartari .
duḥ śīlāpi tathā bhāryā poṣaṇīyā nareśvara.
64. patnyā ānukūlayā bhāvyam yathāśīle api bhartari
duḥśīlā api tathā bhāryā poṣaṇīyā nareśvara
64. A wife should remain agreeable, even if her husband is of (a difficult) disposition. Likewise, O King, even an ill-natured wife should be maintained.
