मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-69, verse-56

राजोवाच ।
गृहागताय यो मह्यं प्रथमे दर्शने मुने ।
त्वया समुद्यतो दातुं कथं सोऽर्घ्यो निवर्तितः ॥५६॥
56. rājovāca .
gṛhāgatāya yo mahyaṃ prathame darśane mune .
tvayā samudyato dātuṃ kathaṃ so'rghyo nivartitaḥ.
56. rājā uvāca gṛha āgatāya yaḥ mahyam prathame darśane mune
tvayā samudyataḥ dātum katham saḥ arghyaḥ nivartitaḥ
56. The king said: 'O sage, how is it that the honorific offering (arghya) which you had prepared to give me, upon my arrival at your home and our first meeting, was then withdrawn?'
