मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-69, verse-39

समिधं तु मया भार्या वृतेयं कर्कशा यतः ।
कथमेतां विहायान्यभार्यया सह सञ्चरे ॥३९॥
39. samidhaṃ tu mayā bhāryā vṛteyaṃ karkaśā yataḥ .
kathametāṃ vihāyānyabhāryayā saha sañcare.
39. samidham tu mayā bhāryā vṛtā iyam karkaśā yataḥ
katham etām vihāya anyabhāryayā saha sañcare
39. However, this wife, whom I chose (to serve as fuel (samidh) for the sacred fire), is harsh. How then can I abandon her and live with another wife?
