महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-53, verse-34

एवमुक्तस्तु भगवान्प्रत्युवाचाथ तं नृपम् ।
इतःप्रभृति यातव्यं पदकं पदकं शनैः ॥३४॥
34. evamuktastu bhagavānpratyuvācātha taṁ nṛpam ,
itaḥprabhṛti yātavyaṁ padakaṁ padakaṁ śanaiḥ.

34. The venerable one, thus addressed, then replied to that king: "From now on, we must proceed slowly, step by step."
