योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-106, verse-52

अथोक्ता सा मया भर्ता भवामि तव सुव्रते ।
केनापदि विचार्यन्ते वर्णधर्मकुलक्रमाः ॥ ५२ ॥
athoktā sā mayā bhartā bhavāmi tava suvrate ,
kenāpadi vicāryante varṇadharmakulakramāḥ 52
52. atha uktā sā mayā bhartā bhavāmi tava suvrate
kena āpadi vicāryante varṇadharmakulakramāḥ
52. atha mayā sā uktā: he suvrate,
tava bhartā bhavāmi.
āpadi kena varṇadharmakulakramāḥ vicāryante?
52. Then I told her, 'O virtuous one, I will be your husband. For in times of distress, who indeed considers the intrinsic natures (dharma) of social classes and family traditions?'
