योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-106, verse-44

याच्चयापि तया मह्यमित्थं दत्तं न किंचन ।
यत्नप्रार्थनया लक्ष्म्या यथा दुष्कृतिने धनम् ॥ ४४ ॥
yāccayāpi tayā mahyamitthaṃ dattaṃ na kiṃcana ,
yatnaprārthanayā lakṣmyā yathā duṣkṛtine dhanam 44
44. yāccayā api tayā mahyam ittham dattam na kiñcana
yatna-prārthanayā lakṣmyā yathā duṣkṛtine dhanam
44. tayā yāccayā api mahyam ittham kiñcana na dattam
yathā lakṣmyā yatna-prārthanayā duṣkṛtine dhanam
44. Even with such begging, nothing was given to me, just as the goddess of fortune (lakṣmī) does not grant wealth to a wicked person, even after great effort and prayer.
