महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-30, verse-42

क्षीणरत्नां च पृथिवीं हतक्षत्रियपुंगवाम् ।
नाभ्युत्सहाम्यहं भोक्तुं विधवामिव योषितम् ॥४२॥
42. kṣīṇaratnāṁ ca pṛthivīṁ hatakṣatriyapuṁgavām ,
nābhyutsahāmyahaṁ bhoktuṁ vidhavāmiva yoṣitam.

abhyutsahe aham bhoktum vidhavām iva yoṣitam
42. Aham kṣīṇaratnām,
hatakṣatriyapuṅgavām ca pṛthivīm,

42. I am unable to enjoy (rule) the earth, which is depleted of its treasures and has its finest warriors (kṣatriya-puṅgavam) slain, just as one would not enjoy a widowed woman.
