महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-30, verse-18

स च दर्पो नरश्रेष्ठ स च मानः क्व ते गतः ।
यस्त्वं संस्तभ्य सलिलं भीतो राजन्व्यवस्थितः ॥१८॥
18. sa ca darpo naraśreṣṭha sa ca mānaḥ kva te gataḥ ,
yastvaṁ saṁstabhya salilaṁ bhīto rājanvyavasthitaḥ.
18. saḥ ca darpaḥ naraśreṣṭha saḥ ca mānaḥ kva te gataḥ |
yat tvaṃ saṃstabhya salilaṃ bhītaḥ rājan vyavasthitaḥ

18. O best of men, O king, where have that pride and that self-respect of yours gone, that you are now fearfully concealing yourself by holding back the water?
