महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-266, verse-53

तस्याहं सर्वमेवैतं भवतो व्यसनागमम् ।
प्रायोपवेशने चैव हेतुं विस्तरतोऽब्रुवम् ॥५३॥
53. tasyāhaṁ sarvamevaitaṁ bhavato vyasanāgamam ,
prāyopaveśane caiva hetuṁ vistarato'bruvam.
53. tasya aham sarvam eva etam bhavataḥ vyasanāgamam
prāyopaveśane ca eva hetum vistarataḥ abruvam
53. I narrated to him (Sampati) in detail all about this misfortune that had befallen us, and also the reason for our fast unto death (prāyopaveśana).
