महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-266, verse-45

तत्रानशनसंकल्पं कृत्वासीना वयं तदा ।
ततः कथान्ते गृध्रस्य जटायोरभवत्कथा ॥४५॥
45. tatrānaśanasaṁkalpaṁ kṛtvāsīnā vayaṁ tadā ,
tataḥ kathānte gṛdhrasya jaṭāyorabhavatkathā.
45. tatra anaśanasaṅkalpam kṛtvā āsīnāḥ vayam tadā
tataḥ kathāante gṛdhrasya jaṭāyoḥ abhavat kathā
45. Thereupon, we resolved to undertake a fast unto death (anaśanasaṅkalpa) and sat down. Subsequently, at the conclusion of our discussion, the story of the vulture Jaṭāyu arose.
