सर्प उवाच ।
यथा हवींषि जुह्वाना मखे वै लुब्धकर्त्विजः ।
न फलं प्राप्नुवन्त्यत्र परलोके तथा ह्यहम् ॥४१॥

The serpent said: "Just as greedy priests, offering oblations in a Vedic ritual (yajña), do not attain any benefit in this world, so too will I not attain any in the other world."
