लुब्धक उवाच ।
जानाम्येवं नेह गुणागुणज्ञाः सर्वे नियुक्ता गुरवो वै भवन्ति ।
स्वस्थस्यैते तूपदेशा भवन्ति तस्मात्क्षुद्रं सर्पमेनं हनिष्ये ॥१७॥

jānāmyevaṁ neha guṇāguṇajñāḥ; sarve niyuktā guravo vai bhavanti ,
svasthasyaite tūpadeśā bhavanti; tasmātkṣudraṁ sarpamenaṁ haniṣye.

lubdhaka uvāca aham evam jānāmi: iha sarve niyuktāḥ guravaḥ vai guṇa-aguṇa-jñāḥ na bhavanti ete upadeśāḥ tu svasthasya bhavanti tasmāt enam kṣudram sarpam haniṣye.

The hunter said: "I know this: not all who are appointed as teachers here are truly discerning of qualities and faults. These instructions are indeed meant for a composed person. Therefore, I shall kill this wretched snake."
