योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-50, verse-12

चित्ताक्रमणमात्रात्तु परमादौषधादृते ।
प्रयत्नेनापि संसारमहारोगो न शाम्यति ॥ १२ ॥
cittākramaṇamātrāttu paramādauṣadhādṛte ,
prayatnenāpi saṃsāramahārogo na śāmyati 12
12. cittākramaṇamātrāt tu paramauṣadhāt ṛte
prayatnena api saṃsāramahārogaḥ na śāmyati
12. tu cittākramaṇamātrāt paramauṣadhāt ṛte
prayatnena api saṃsāramahārogaḥ na śāmyati
12. But without the supreme medicine (auṣadha) that consists solely of subduing the mind (citta), even with [much] effort, the great disease of transmigration (saṃsāra) does not subside.
