महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-50, verse-64

दुरात्मानं पापमतिं नृशंसं दुष्टप्रज्ञं पाण्डवेयेषु नित्यम् ।
हीनस्वार्थं पाण्डवेयैर्विरोधे हत्वा कर्णं धिष्ठितार्थो भवाद्य ॥६४॥
64. durātmānaṁ pāpamatiṁ nṛśaṁsaṁ; duṣṭaprajñaṁ pāṇḍaveyeṣu nityam ,
hīnasvārthaṁ pāṇḍaveyairvirodhe; hatvā karṇaṁ dhiṣṭhitārtho bhavādya.
64. dur-ātmānam pāpa-matim nṛ-śaṃsam
duṣṭa-prajñam pāṇḍaveyeṣu nityam
hīna-svārtham pāṇḍaveyaiḥ virodhe hatvā
karṇam dhiṣṭhita-arthaḥ bhava adya
64. adya dur-ātmānam pāpa-matim nṛ-śaṃsam duṣṭa-prajñam pāṇḍaveyeṣu nityam pāṇḍaveyaiḥ virodhe hīna-svārtham karṇam hatvā,

64. Today, having slain Karṇa—who is wicked-souled, evil-minded, cruel, constantly ill-disposed towards the Pāṇḍavas, and whose own welfare is diminished by his enmity with the Pāṇḍavas—become one who has accomplished his purpose.
