महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-50, verse-19

यथाद्य समरे कर्णं हनिष्यामि हतोऽथ वा ।
महीतले पतिष्यामि सत्येनायुधमालभे ॥१९॥
19. yathādya samare karṇaṁ haniṣyāmi hato'tha vā ,
mahītale patiṣyāmi satyenāyudhamālabhe.

vā mahītale patiṣyāmi satyena āyudham ālabhe

19. Today in battle, I shall either slay Karṇa, or I shall fall dead upon the earth. I take up my weapon by this oath of truth.
