महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-297, verse-50

यक्ष उवाच ।
किं स्विदात्मा मनुष्यस्य किं स्विद्दैवकृतः सखा ।
उपजीवनं किं स्विदस्य किं स्विदस्य परायणम् ॥५०॥
50. yakṣa uvāca ,
kiṁ svidātmā manuṣyasya kiṁ sviddaivakṛtaḥ sakhā ,
upajīvanaṁ kiṁ svidasya kiṁ svidasya parāyaṇam.
50. yakṣaḥ uvāca kim svit ātmā manuṣyasya kim svit daivakṛtaḥ
sakhā upajīvanam kim svit asya kim svit asya parāyaṇam
50. The Yakṣa asked, "What is the very soul (ātman) of a human being? What is the friend given by destiny? What is their means of sustenance? What is their ultimate refuge?"
