महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-13, verse-7

तेषां तथैव तां लक्ष्मीं सर्वक्षत्रमुपासते ।

7. Similarly, all the warrior class (kṣatra) attended upon their glory and prosperity (lakṣmī). Having ruled the central earth (avanī), he then engaged in mutual divisions.
