महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-85, verse-61

ददात्युदितमात्रे यस्तस्य पाप्मा विधूयते ।
मध्याह्ने ददतो रुक्मं हन्ति पापमनागतम् ॥६१॥
61. dadātyuditamātre yastasya pāpmā vidhūyate ,
madhyāhne dadato rukmaṁ hanti pāpamanāgatam.
61. dadāti uditamātre yaḥ tasya pāpmā vidhūyate
madhyāhne dadato rukmam hanti pāpam anāgatam
61. yaḥ uditamātre dadāti,
tasya pāpmā vidhūyate; madhyāhne rukmam dadato anāgatam pāpam hanti
61. Whoever gives as soon as the sun has risen, his sin is dispelled. For one who gives gold at midday, it destroys future sins.
