महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-85, verse-27

अग्निरुवाच ।
मदङ्गेभ्यः प्रसूतानि मदाश्रयकृतानि च ।
ममैव तान्यपत्यानि वरुणो ह्यवशात्मकः ॥२७॥
27. agniruvāca ,
madaṅgebhyaḥ prasūtāni madāśrayakṛtāni ca ,
mamaiva tānyapatyāni varuṇo hyavaśātmakaḥ.
27. agniḥ uvāca mad-aṅgebhyaḥ prasūtāni mad-āśraya-kṛtāni
ca mama eva tāni apatyāni varuṇaḥ hi avaśa-ātmakaḥ
27. agniḥ uvāca: "tāni apatyāni mad-aṅgebhyaḥ prasūtāni ca mad-āśraya-kṛtāni.
mama eva tāni apatyāni.
varuṇaḥ hi avaśa-ātmakaḥ.

27. Agni said: 'Those offspring were born from my own limbs and created under my protection. They are indeed my children. Varuṇa, after all, has a dependent nature (ātman).'
