महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-85, verse-14

सर्वभूतेष्वथ तथा सत्त्वं तेजस्तथा तमः ।
शुक्रे हुतेऽग्नौ तस्मिंस्तु प्रादुरासंस्त्रयः प्रभो ॥१४॥
14. sarvabhūteṣvatha tathā sattvaṁ tejastathā tamaḥ ,
śukre hute'gnau tasmiṁstu prādurāsaṁstrayaḥ prabho.
14. sarvabhūteṣu atha tathā sattvam tejas tathā tamaḥ
śukre hute agnau tasmin tu prādurāsan trayaḥ prabho
14. prabho śukre agnau tasmin hute trayaḥ prādurāsan
atha tathā sarvabhūteṣu sattvam tejas tathā tamaḥ
14. O lord, when the creative essence (śukra) was offered into that fire, three (beings) appeared. And thus, in all beings, the qualities of goodness (sattva), energy (tejas), and inertia (tamas) similarly manifested.
