महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-69, verse-5

एतावानात्मविजयः पञ्चवर्गविनिग्रहः ।
जितेन्द्रियो नरपतिर्बाधितुं शक्नुयादरीन् ॥५॥
5. etāvānātmavijayaḥ pañcavargavinigrahaḥ ,
jitendriyo narapatirbādhituṁ śaknuyādarīn.

5. This indeed is the extent of self-conquest (ātman): the complete control over the group of five senses. A ruler who has mastered his senses (indriyas) will then be able to overcome his adversaries.
