महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-258, verse-46

परवत्यस्मि चाप्युक्तः प्रणयिष्ये नयेन च ।
अत्र चाकुशले जाते स्त्रियो नास्ति व्यतिक्रमः ॥४६॥

46. paravatyasmi cāpyuktaḥ praṇayiṣye nayena ca ,
atra cākuśale jāte striyo nāsti vyatikramaḥ.

46. paravatī asmi ca api uktaḥ praṇayiṣye nayena ca
atra ca akuśale jāte striyaḥ na asti vyatikramaḥ

46. paravatī asmi ca api uktaḥ ca nayena praṇayiṣye
ca atra akuśale jāte striyaḥ vyatikramaḥ na asti

46. (She said,) "I am dependent. He (Indra) was also addressed, and I shall conduct myself properly. Furthermore, when misfortune arises in this matter, there is no transgression (vyatikrama) for a woman."
