योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-125, verse-45

हरो नखेन चिच्छेद सुकुमारमिवाम्बुजम् ।
शक्तोऽपि न पुनर्ब्रह्मा जनयामास तच्छिरः ॥ ४५ ॥
haro nakhena ciccheda sukumāramivāmbujam ,
śakto'pi na punarbrahmā janayāmāsa tacchiraḥ 45
45. haraḥ nakhena ciccheda sukumāram iva ambujam |
śaktaḥ api na punar brahmā janayāmāsa tat śiraḥ ||
45. haraḥ nakhena sukumāram ambujam iva (tat śiraḥ) ciccheda
brahmā śaktaḥ api tat śiraḥ punar na janayāmāsa
45. Shiva (Hara) severed [Brahma's head] with his nail as if it were a delicate lotus. Even though Brahma (brahmā) was capable, he did not generate that head again.
