मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-63, verse-20

क्षान्त्यास्पदं वै ब्राह्मण्यं क्रोधसंयमनन्तपः ।
एतच्छ्रुत्वा ददौ शापं तयोरप्यमितद्युतिः ॥२०॥
20. kṣāntyāspadaṃ vai brāhmaṇyaṃ krodhasaṃyamanantapaḥ .
etacchrutvā dadau śāpaṃ tayorapyamitadyutiḥ.
20. kṣāntyāspadam vai brāhmaṇyam krodhasaṃyamanam tapaḥ
| etat śrutvā dadau śāpam tayoḥ api amitadyutiḥ
20. Indeed, brahmin-ness (brāhmaṇya) is the abode of patience, and asceticism (tapas) is the control of anger. Having heard this, the one of immeasurable splendor also pronounced a curse upon them both.
