महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-49, verse-48

ततः सिद्धास्त ऊचुर्हि देवलं पुनरेव ह ।
न देवल गतिस्तत्र तव गन्तुं तपोधन ।
ब्रह्मणः सदनं विप्र जैगीषव्यो यदाप्तवान् ॥४८॥
48. tataḥ siddhāsta ūcurhi devalaṁ punareva ha ,
na devala gatistatra tava gantuṁ tapodhana ,
brahmaṇaḥ sadanaṁ vipra jaigīṣavyo yadāptavān.
48. tataḥ siddhāḥ te ūcuḥ hi devalam
punaḥ eva ha na devala gatiḥ tatra
tava gantum tapodhana brahmaṇaḥ
sadanam vipra jaigīṣavyaḥ yat āptavān
48. tataḥ te siddhāḥ hi devalam punaḥ
eva ha ūcuḥ devala tapodhana vipra
jaigīṣavyaḥ yat brahmaṇaḥ sadanam
āptavān tatra gantum tava gatiḥ na
48. Then those perfected beings indeed said to Devala again: "O Devala, O ascetic rich in asceticism (tapas), there is no access for you to go to that abode of Brahman (brahman) which the Brahmin Jaigīṣavya attained."
