महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-15, verse-59

शल्यो वा पाण्डवं हत्वा दद्याद्दुर्योधनाय गाम् ।
इतीव निश्चयो नाभूद्योधानां तत्र भारत ॥५९॥

59. Among the warriors there, O Bhārata, there was no such certainty that Śalya, having killed the Pāṇḍava, would grant victory to Duryodhana.
