महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-193, verse-25

ततः स राजा द्रुपदस्य श्रुत्वा विमर्शयुक्तो युवतीर्वरिष्ठाः ।
संप्रेषयामास सुचारुरूपाः शिखण्डिनं स्त्री पुमान्वेति वेत्तुम् ॥२५॥
25. tataḥ sa rājā drupadasya śrutvā; vimarśayukto yuvatīrvariṣṭhāḥ ,
saṁpreṣayāmāsa sucārurūpāḥ; śikhaṇḍinaṁ strī pumānveti vettum.

25. Then, having heard Drupada's message, that king, full of deliberation, sent out excellent, beautiful young women to ascertain whether Śikhaṇḍin was a woman or a man.
