महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-170, verse-6

मातलिरुवाच ।
पुलोमा नाम दैतेयी कालका च महासुरी ।
दिव्यं वर्षसहस्रं ते चेरतुः परमं तपः ।
तपसोऽन्ते ततस्ताभ्यां स्वयम्भूरददाद्वरम् ॥६॥
6. mātaliruvāca ,
pulomā nāma daiteyī kālakā ca mahāsurī ,
divyaṁ varṣasahasraṁ te ceratuḥ paramaṁ tapaḥ ,
tapaso'nte tatastābhyāṁ svayambhūradadādvaram.

ca mahāsurī divyam varṣasahasram
te ceratuḥ paramam tapaḥ tapasaḥ ante
tataḥ tābhyām svayambhūḥ adadāt varam
6. Mātali said: 'Pulomā, a daughter of the Daityas, and Kālakā, a great female demon (asurī), performed supreme asceticism (tapas) for a divine thousand years. Then, at the culmination of their asceticism (tapas), the Self-existent Lord (Svayambhū) granted them a boon.'
