महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-1, verse-9

न दिष्टमभ्यतिक्रान्तुं शक्यं गावल्गणे नरैः ।
यत्समेत्य रणे पार्थैः पुत्रो मम निपातितः ॥९॥
9. na diṣṭamabhyatikrāntuṁ śakyaṁ gāvalgaṇe naraiḥ ,
yatsametya raṇe pārthaiḥ putro mama nipātitaḥ.

9. O son of Gavalgana (Sanjaya), it is not possible for humans to overcome destiny (diṣṭa), for my son, having confronted the Pandavas in battle, was slain by them.
