महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-1, verse-13

आज्ञाप्य पृथिवीं सर्वां स्थित्वा मूर्ध्नि च संजय ।
कथमद्य भविष्यामि प्रेष्यभूतो दुरन्तकृत् ॥१३॥
13. ājñāpya pṛthivīṁ sarvāṁ sthitvā mūrdhni ca saṁjaya ,
kathamadya bhaviṣyāmi preṣyabhūto durantakṛt.

13. saṃjaya,
sarvām pṛthivīm ājñāpya ca mūrdhni sthitvā,

13. O Saṃjaya, how can I, who once commanded the entire earth and stood at its pinnacle, become a servant today, especially after bringing about such a dreadful outcome?
