योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-70, verse-77

कपर्दकार्धलाभेन कृपणो बहु मन्यते ।
दुरुच्छेदा हि भूतानामहंकारचमत्कृतिः ॥ ७७ ॥

77. A miser considers the acquisition of even half a cowrie shell to be a significant gain. Indeed, the compelling fascination of the ego (ahaṅkāra) is difficult for living beings to eradicate.
