महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-66, verse-47

निर्भिद्य ते भीमवेगा न्यपतन्पृथिवीतले ।
कम्पितात्मा तथा कर्णः शक्त्या चेष्टामदर्शयत् ॥४७॥
47. nirbhidya te bhīmavegā nyapatanpṛthivītale ,
kampitātmā tathā karṇaḥ śaktyā ceṣṭāmadarśayat.

47. Having penetrated (their targets), those terribly swift (arrows) fell to the ground. Karna, with his inner self (ātman) shaken, then displayed his counter-effort with his divine missile (śakti).
