महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-66, verse-27

स चित्रवर्मेषुवरो विदार्य प्राणान्निरस्यन्निव साधु मुक्तः ।
कर्णस्य पीत्वा रुधिरं विवेश वसुंधरां शोणितवाजदिग्धः ॥२७॥
27. sa citravarmeṣuvaro vidārya; prāṇānnirasyanniva sādhu muktaḥ ,
karṇasya pītvā rudhiraṁ viveśa; vasuṁdharāṁ śoṇitavājadigdhaḥ.

27. That excellent arrow, well-discharged, tore apart Karna's armor, as if extracting his vital breaths (prāṇa). Having drunk Karna's blood, it then penetrated the earth (vasuṃdharā), smeared with blood and marrow.
