कृष्ण उवाच ।
योऽसौ त्वया खाण्डवे चित्रभानुं संतर्पयानेन धनुर्धरेण ।
वियद्गतो बाणनिकृत्तदेहो ह्यनेकरूपो निहतास्य माता ॥२३॥

23. kṛṣṇa uvāca ,
yo'sau tvayā khāṇḍave citrabhānuṁ; saṁtarpayānena dhanurdhareṇa ,
viyadgato bāṇanikṛttadeho; hyanekarūpo nihatāsya mātā.

23. kṛṣṇaḥ uvāca yaḥ asau tvayā khāṇḍave
citrabhānum santarpayatā anena
dhanurdhareṇa viyad-gataḥ bāṇa-nikṛtta-dehaḥ
hi anekarūpaḥ nihatā asya mātā

23. kṛṣṇaḥ uvāca: asau yaḥ,
tvayā anena dhanurdhareṇa khāṇḍave citrabhānum santarpayatā,
viyad-gataḥ hi bāṇa-nikṛtta-dehaḥ anekarūpaḥ,
asya mātā nihatā.

23. Kṛṣṇa said, 'This is the very one (Takṣaka) whose mother was killed, and whose multi-formed body, having gone into the sky, was severed by arrows by you, the archer, when you were gratifying the fire-god (Citrabhanu) in the (Khāṇḍava) forest.'
