महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-2, verse-51

संविभागो हि भूतानां सर्वेषामेव शिष्यते ।
तथैवापचमानेभ्यः प्रदेयं गृहमेधिना ॥५१॥

51. saṁvibhāgo hi bhūtānāṁ sarveṣāmeva śiṣyate ,
tathaivāpacamānebhyaḥ pradeyaṁ gṛhamedhinā.

51. Indeed, a share (of food) should be left for all beings. Similarly, by the householder (gṛhamedhin), food should be given to those who do not cook for themselves.
