महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-2, verse-30

विप्रयोगे न तु त्यागी दोषदर्शी समागमात् ।
विरागं भजते जन्तुर्निर्वैरो निष्परिग्रहः ॥३०॥
30. viprayoge na tu tyāgī doṣadarśī samāgamāt ,
virāgaṁ bhajate janturnirvairo niṣparigrahaḥ.

30. A living being, who is free from enmity (nirvaira) and devoid of possessions (niṣparigraha), attains detachment (virāga) by perceiving the faults arising from association, and not by simply abandoning things in separation.
