महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-47, verse-20

पुराणे पुरुषः प्रोक्तो ब्रह्मा प्रोक्तो युगादिषु ।
क्षये संकर्षणः प्रोक्तस्तमुपास्यमुपास्महे ॥२०॥
20. purāṇe puruṣaḥ prokto brahmā prokto yugādiṣu ,
kṣaye saṁkarṣaṇaḥ proktastamupāsyamupāsmahe.

20. The supreme cosmic Person (puruṣa) is declared in the Purāṇas. He is declared as Brahmā at the beginning of the ages and as Saṃkarṣaṇa at the time of dissolution. We worship him, who is worthy of worship.
