मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-7, verse-8

साध्यमानाः क्षमामौनचित्तसंयमिनामुना ।
ता वै भयार्ताः क्रन्दन्ति कथं कार्यमिदं मया ॥८॥
8. sādhyamānāḥ kṣamāmaunacittasaṃyamināmunā .
tā vai bhayārtāḥ krandanti kathaṃ kāryamidaṃ mayā.
8. sādhyamānāḥ kṣamāmaunacittasaṃyaminā amunā tā
vai bhayārtāḥ krandanti katham kāryam idam mayā
8. Indeed, those [demons], tormented by that ascetic who practices patience, silence, and mental control, are crying out in fear. How can this task be accomplished by me?
