However, Śalya, who understood Karṇa's outward demeanor and inner feelings, and who was illustrious in assemblies, addressed timely words to Karṇa, saying, 'O subduer of enemies (ariṁdama), do not be disheartened, O son of Rādhā (Rādheya); this kind of behavior does not befit you.'
