महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-39, verse-39

मार्दवं सर्वभूतानामनसूया क्षमा धृतिः ।
आयुष्याणि बुधाः प्राहुर्मित्राणां चाविमानना ॥३९॥
39. mārdavaṁ sarvabhūtānāmanasūyā kṣamā dhṛtiḥ ,
āyuṣyāṇi budhāḥ prāhurmitrāṇāṁ cāvimānanā.
39. mārdavam sarvabhūtānām anasūyā kṣamā dhṛtiḥ |
āyuṣyāṇi budhāḥ prāhuḥ mitrāṇām ca avimānanā
39. The wise declare that gentleness towards all beings, absence of envy, forgiveness, fortitude, and also respect for friends are conducive to a long life.
