महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-109, verse-47

वीणानां वल्लकीनां च वेणूनां च विशां पते ।
सुघोषैर्मधुरैः शब्दैः सुप्तः स प्रतिबोध्यते ॥४७॥
47. vīṇānāṁ vallakīnāṁ ca veṇūnāṁ ca viśāṁ pate ,
sughoṣairmadhuraiḥ śabdaiḥ suptaḥ sa pratibodhyate.

sughoṣaiḥ madhuraiḥ śabdaiḥ suptaḥ saḥ pratibodhyate
47. viśām pate! saḥ suptaḥ vīṇānām ca vallakīnām ca veṇūnām sughoṣaiḥ madhuraiḥ śabdaiḥ pratibodhyate.
47. O lord of the people, he, when asleep, is awakened by the sweet and melodious sounds of lutes (vīṇās), harps (vallakīs), and flutes (veṇus).
